Collingwood House

The Collingwood House is a new-build home in the local bluffs where the clients wanted a warm getaway, nestled into the forest, surrounded by nature.

The form of the building is derived from architectural gestures centred on views, natural sunlight and functionality. The floor plan first restricts views to adjacent properties and encourages views to the surrounding forest. It was then carved to better prevent elements such as driveways to distract the views. Finally, sloped roofs with top of the building, creating a home that flows seamlessly and connects to its surrounding landscape. Inside, the angular form helps frame the various views and provides a unique ceiling form, bringing in natural sunlight.
