Kellys Lane House

Sited adjacent to one of the main creeks near a watershed conservation area outside of the town of Stratford, Ontario, Kellys Lane House is a project which reorients an existing vernacular home towards the landscape in which it is embedded.

Although the entire house was extensively renovated, a majority of the project budget was focused on a single major structural intervention. The design eliminated past additions, and reconfigured the entire plan as an open living, eating and kitchen area, each strongly connected to the outdoors with the help of a 50-foot puncture across the length of the house. The glazed architectural box collides into the back facade drawing the ravine into the living spaces and vice versa.
